Two ways to trade a currency

You can bet on a currency’s direction in more than one way. "Spot forex" is trading the currency itself, right now, at today’s price. "Currency futures" are contracts to exchange a currency at a set price on a specific future date. Both let you trade currencies — but the plumbing behind them is quite different.
