Spread across time, not just price

Every spread so far used two DIFFERENT strikes at the SAME expiry. A calendar spread flips that: SAME strike, two DIFFERENT expiries. You sell a short-dated option and buy a longer-dated one. The trade harvests the fact that near-term options lose time value faster than far-term ones.
