
Sometimes you are sure a stock is about to move hard — an earnings report, a big decision — but you have no idea which way. A straddle buys BOTH a call and a put at the same strike and expiry. If the stock explodes up, the call pays. If it crashes down, the put pays. You do not need to guess direction, only that the move is big.
